How to Get Your Vehicle Repaired After an Accident
Have you've been in an accident and don't know where to turn? Here you can find answers to common collision repair questions to help guide you through the process and get you back on the road safely.
Report the Accident to Insurance
In general, it is advisable to contact your insurance company immediately following an accident, regardless of who is at fault. They can take your statement, contact the other driver(s), and initiate the claim process on your behalf. Having your insurance company involved benefits you especially if the at fault driver is under insured, uninsured, etc.
It would be in your best interest to allow your insurance company to take your statement and negotiate the claim on your behalf with the other driver's insurance company. As professionals, they are capable of negotiating claims.
Obtain an Estimate of Repair
It’s best to obtain 2-3 estimates from different shops or until you find the repair shop of your choice. Differences in repair estimates are common. A lower estimate may not include all the necessary work. If you’re not sure why one estimate is different from another please be sure to ask our professionally trained estimators to go over it with you. We are here to help.
Schedule your Repairs
Once you have obtained an estimate, repairs can be scheduled. There is generally a waiting period for repair appointments (because of scheduling) but this allows time for the insurance company to review the shop’s estimate for approval. Repairs can not be completed without the insurance company approval.
Rental Car Arrangements
If you need a rental car during your repairs you will need to contact the adjuster handling the insurance claim to set up your rental car. Please note that rental coverage is separate from the auto insurance policy. If you are unsure please inform the estimator writing your estimate for the repair shop or call the adjuster.
Once the adjuster has made arrangements for your rental coverage you will be provided with a confirmation number. You will need this number when picking up your rental or for questions you may have for the rental company. If you need assistance we are happy to help with your rental arrangements.
Repair Appointment
Once you have completed all the steps above your repairs can be completed. If you still have questions about How to Get Your Vehicle Repaired After An Accident our professionally trained estimators are happy to help.
